Made for how lighting teams actually work.

Three things, done well.

📚

Real fixture library

A growing library of 150+ professional fixtures: Aputure, ARRI, Astera, Creamsource, Kino Flo, Litepanels, Nanlite, Nanlux, Quasar Science, Rosco DMG, and more. Real wattage, weight, and DMX modes — verified against manufacturer spec sheets.

Auto-everything

Power draw per phase, total weight with yokes, DMX patches that don't conflict, equipment lists that match the plot. Stop calculating, start designing.

Synced across your devices

Sketch a plot on your phone on the recce, finish it on your laptop at home. Sign in once and your projects sync automatically — phone, tablet, and desktop, always up to date. Sync is free.

Why this exists.

I built GafferPlot because the lighting plot tools available to gaffers were either too expensive, too slow, or trapped on a desktop in an office somewhere — when the plot needs to live on the phone in your back pocket on set.

So I made the tool I needed. A real plot, fast, on whatever device I had on me — nothing to install, nothing to learn, open it and go.

I'm still actively building it. If you find bugs or want fixtures added, tell me.

Who it's for.

Working gaffers, DPs, and lighting designers who plan rigs on the go — between location scouts, in the truck, on the way to set. People who need a real plot and don't want to wait until they're back at the laptop.

Common questions.

Does GafferPlot cost anything?

Every account starts with a 14-day free trial of everything. After that you can keep a free account (design, sync, and PDF export) or upgrade to Pro for unlimited exports, project file sharing, and every future feature. Pro is €9.99/month or €99/year.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once loaded, the app installs as a PWA and keeps working without a connection — you can plot on location with no signal. Anything you change offline syncs automatically the next time you're online. Exports are never blocked offline.

Do I need an account?

You can explore a read-only sample without one. To create and save your own projects — and to sync them across devices — you sign in with a free account. It takes a few seconds.

Is my data private?

Your projects are stored securely on EU-based servers (Frankfurt) so they can sync across your devices, and only you can see your own projects. We don't sell your data and there are no ads. See the Privacy Policy for the details.

Can I export to PDF?

Yes. The PDF includes the plot, equipment list, DMX patch, and cable summary — all on professional A4 pages. One click, ready to send to crew.

What fixtures are supported?

Currently 150+ from Aputure, ARRI, Astera, Creamsource, Hudson Spider, K5600, Kino Flo, Litepanels, Nanlite, Nanlux, Quasar Science, and Rosco DMG. More added regularly. Missing one you need? Email me and I'll add it.

Does it work on iPhone, iPad, and Android?

Yes. Web-based, no app store needed. Works in any modern browser — Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge. On iPhone and iPad you can add it to your home screen and it runs like a native app.

Can I print a lighting plot from this?

Yes. Browser print works, plus the custom PDF export lays the plot, equipment list, and DMX patch on A4 pages with proper headers and pagination.

What about DMX universes?

GafferPlot auto-patches across multiple universes with overflow handling. Manual addressing supported too. Patch conflicts are highlighted in red.

Can I import an existing plot?

You can import and export projects as files (.gaffer.json) to back them up or hand them to another gaffer. And because projects sync to your account, they're already available on every device you sign in on — no manual moving needed.

How do I report a bug or request a fixture?

Email me directly. Every report is read by me personally.
